Mask-wearing and exercise… is the combo working out? In Texas, Baylor Scott & White’s Sports Performance Center will put that very question to the test.

As gyms reopen across the state of Texas, sports performance experts are questioning just how much wearing a mask impacts an individual’s physical performance.  Currently, 32 individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 are involved in the study.  Each participant’s oxygen levels, heart rate and blood pressure while exercising and mask-wearing are being carefully noted.  Dr. Simon Driver, a leader in the study, hopes that the research study will be able to put misconceptions to rest.  In his professional opinion, there is no clear link between mask-wearing and performance ability — but only time, and results, will tell the full story.
